Virtual Cabin Mockup

In collaboration with engineers from Lufthansa Technik OES, we developed a complex installation that has impressed visitors at numerous international trade fairs. This innovative mock-up of a business jet combines real technical elements with a virtual replica. Integrating real aircraft hardware with the Unity game engine is not something we do every day.

Challenge

Previously, the trade fair mockups used to present cabin solutions were expensive and complicated to install. Furthermore, they could only be used to showcase existing products. However, as customers are often much more interested in tomorrow's solutions, there was a desire to showcase the product vision for the coming years as well.

Solutions

In collaboration with Lufthansa Technik engineers, we have designed and developed a solution that meets both requirements by combining real and virtual components in a clever way. One side of the installation is an almost real aircraft cabin, complete with control hardware and lighting. The other side consists of a video wall, projection or OLED display, depending on the available space and location of the trade fair, which simulates the rest of the cabin. This unusual trade fair demonstration impressed our customers and visitors alike.
